As a Gulf Coast resident for over twenty years, I am deeply concerned about the ultimate impact of the Deepwater Horizon Disaster and its impact on the residents and coastal regions surrounding the spill. I fear that the impact will be more devastating, farther-reaching and longer lasting than even the worst of the “worst-case” scenarios currently being discussed in the media.
Our need to consume and desecrate the earth’s natural resources will ultimately be our undoing.
The title: Black Marlin comes from the namesake of the barge that delivered the Deepwater Horizon rig to its ultimate resting place. The creative process used for creating the piece is an intuitive discovery process and one that involves creating layers of disparate information and materials that ultimately reveal and obscure glimpses of the disaster.
